Dear members of The New Club of Paris,

As already announced on April 22nd , the 2012 General Assembly of the NCP will take place on May 30th from late afternoon until the evening.

Different from the last announcement, the Club will NOT have its General Assembly meeting in Musee Rodin, rather than at
Les Salons de la Maison des Arts et Metiers / Club d’Iéna
9 bis, Avenue d’Iéna
75116 PARIS (16th Arrondissement)

This location is near to the conference facility of World Bank Institute, where IC 8 will take place on May 31st ad June 1st.

Different from the past years, we will have a “splitted” Assembly. I.e. we will have a two-hour workshop which is informal but related to General Assembly topics, thus after this workshop the formal GA will follow, fulfilling the statuary procedures.

The schedule will be
17:00 = 5.00 p.m. Start of informal part of the GA in terms of informal presentations
19:15 = 7:15 p.m. Start of the formal, i.e. official General Assembly with voting on decisions.
20:30 = 8:30 p.m. Start of dinner (at same location)

The detailed agenda for both parts are attached. The formal Assembly needs to fulfill prescribed statuary conditions, whereas the informal part preceding the formal GA is open for inputs to be discussed and explained.

So, please, return your answers regarding this mail to both Mrs. Lao – parisnewclub@gmail.com – and to me, indicating if…
a) you will take part in the GA (1) in both parts or (2) only in the official part
b) in case of attending the informal part: if, in addition to the agenda prepared, you would like to contribute and, if yes, on which subject.
c) you will take part in the subsequent dinner from 20:30 (8:30p.m.) at the same location. This information is also important for our planning.

Kind regards
Guenter Koch

For your travel logistics, you may take your decisions based on which event you will participate in for May 30th. Nonetheless, you should manage to be latest with the General Assembly (GA) at 19:00 (7p.m.).
The GA will be followed by a dinner at the same / nearby location.
A few key topics on the upcoming General Assembly will be
- Work & research program
- Projects underway or planned

If you miss an issue, please, be so kind to send your input NOW for its integration into the agenda.

In the course of the workshop preceding the coming GA, we will receive various presentations on what had happened since the last GA, such as: the ACSI 2011 (see http://acsi.aalto.fi/en/ or on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/groups/127147383963596/ ), the Serbian Round Table (http://new-club-of-paris.org/blog/index.php/2011/11/02/round-table-event-in-serbia-novi-sad/ ), the Paris conference on initiating the French-German “Summit” Round Table (http://new-club-of-paris.org/blog/index.php/2011/12/22/french-german-roundtable-on-intangibles/ ), the Leonardo Award project (http://www.zukunft-personal.de ), participations in major events or conferences, in specific the NCP Conference in Vienna on “Knowledge Economy” (http://www.awsg.at/Content.Node/veranstaltungen/unterlagen/46853.php -> 29. Februar 2012 – Konferenz “Ökonomie für die Zukunft” ) and the Tenerife workshop (see the attachment presenting a mindmap protocol of this meeting prepared by Sylvain Cottong) as well as the subsequent NCP seminars on Tenerife (see related attachment with all URLs of public reports of these events) and, finally, the then very recent workshop held with PwC in Paris.

The final formal agenda of the GA and all potential new final organizational data will be sent out until the end of April. Workshop agenda will follow.

For formal reasons, please consider this e-mail as your in-time invitation to the General Assembly.

In the name of the whole Board with best regards and;

See you in Paris!

Open Innovation Strategy and Policy Group (OISPG) unites industrial groups, academia and private users to support policies for Open Innovation at the European Commission. They have examined stories on Open Innovation tailored towards industries, users and policymakers.

The First Workshop: Paris, Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, 26 September 2011
The Main Discussed Issues

The Franco-German Round Table on intangibles and knowledge assets is a research and policy initiative by two major universities in the two countries (as well in Europe) –The University Paris-Sud and Heidelberg University– who decided to join their recent and on-going research efforts, in order to:
- Come up with conceptual instruments;
- Provide a stimulating platform for research and action for progress among different stakeholders in France and Germany;
- Contribute, more generally, to the large dialogue in Europe and more globally, on the role of intangibles in value creation.

The Round table will bring together researchers, policy makers, Executives and Media from the two countries, who are interested in sharing experiences and coordinating efforts towards understanding the dynamics of intangibles and their impact on sustainability in European societies, and beyond.

The project will deal with strategic business issues as well as with meso and macro/societal issues, taking into account the importance of linking these different perspectives. Societal issues such as sustainability will be integrated into the analysis.

Dear esteemed Member of the NCP,

With this mail we send you all the very best wishes from our President, the Board and myself, thanking you for your ongoing interest, support and engagement with the New Club of Paris. In addition, we want to send you our warmest wishes for the coming days and for what we hope will be a very promising year in 2012.

2012 will be promising, since the NCP will surely continue to play a relevant role in agenda-setting for transforming society into a knowledge society, and more specifically to foster a knowledge economy with a special focus on the intellectual capital of nations, regions and communities.

Below you can get an idea of what will be happening in the foreseeable future and what you should mark in your calendar; the few missing dates will be available soon:

• The Midwinter working meeting in 2012 will take place in Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife (Canary Island) on February 7th and 8th. This is the third NCP Midwinter session (the 1st one was in Liechtenstein in 2010, the 2nd in Sophia Antipolis in 2011). Please consider taking part in this event. Information about the program and logistics is attached.

• After the Midwinter working meeting, there will be a seminar under the auspices of NCP in Tenerife, held at the same place as the working meeting, from February 9th to 11th, 2012. The agenda is attached. This seminar is open also for non-NCP members. You are welcome to bring colleagues, friends and/or spouses with you.

• A special two days conference open for all NCP members will be held in Brussels. At this conference NCP members will meet representatives of the European Commission, and together explore common ground for cooperation. This event will take place sometime in the period March 2nd to 9th. The precise date will be decided and communicated as soon as possible.

• The Serbian Round Table Report (responsible member: Sladjana Cabrilo), which is expected to be a “door opener” for similar projects in the Danube region, will be published in March 2012.

• The 8th edition of the annual conference on Intellectual Capital (IC 8), will take place May 30th to June 1st 2012, at the World Bank Office in Paris. The General Assembly of the NCP will take place on the evening 30th of May 2012 in Paris.

• The 3rd ACSI societal innovation camp in Helsinki, Finland, will take place from 7-14th August 2012 – see http://acsi.aalto.fi/acsi/

• The LEONARDO Award event will take place in Cologne Germany: Sept. 24th, 2012 – see www.leonardo-award.eu

• The German – French conference of NCP in Heidelberg is part of the preparation for a bi-national high level Round Table. This is the follow-up event of the French – German preparatory Round Table conference which took place in Paris on September 26th, 2011 ; information about this conference is also attached.

• Nov. 2012, first half: 2nd Tenerife seminar week

• … AND … please, have a look from time to time at our web pages www.new-club-of-paris.org, where you will find updated information and the NCP latest publications. For example, the condensed version of Daniel Guevara’s dissertation, submitted in Paris at Université Sud (A. Bounfour), has recently been uploaded to the NCP site. Congratulations, Daniel, now Dr. Guevara!

From the above list of activities, you can see that – with ACSI, the Leonardo Award, the ongoing Tenerife seminars, the annual IC conferences, the French – German preparatory Round Table events, and Round Table events in different countries – The New Club of Paris not only provides input to diverse global discussions, research activities and the promotion of Intellectual Capital agendas in the Knowledge Society, but is also a driver in creating initiatives with growing momentum. The NCP is not always the main organizer of these events, but it is THE one of the partners which makes them happen. In this way we continue to be a major catalyst of change.

In view of this continuous forward movement, I am happy to thank you and to wish you all the best for the coming days and for a successful and satisfying year in 2012. Keep moving with us!

Guenter Koch
General Secretary
